God wants you to discover and live what you are called to do during life challenges. I sat in my office crying after witnessing high students suffer from depression, homelessness, hunger, and lack of parental support. At that moment, God was revealing to me my calling. I didn’t know it at the time, but I knew God was tugging on my heart to be a solution to the problem. God placed me in an environment that was painful to discover my calling in life.
What environment is causing you pain? This environment may cause pain in your career, relationships, finances, health, etc. The truth is in the midst of your pain God wants you to discover your calling. This is a calling Jesus chose and appointed you to live.
John 15:16 (NIV) says, ” You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
Jesus called you to bring solutions to your environment. These solutions are fruit that will bring abundance, justice, peace, prosperity, equality, healing, etc. in your life. Jesus said that your fruit will remain if you discover and live your calling. Another word for fruit is results. The calling Jesus chose for your life brings results from God’s thoughts and ways. I like to call it God’s solutions for living.
The calling on your life comes with life solutions from God. Solutions for you and the people you are called to serve. This means you are the church. The church is God’s voice and hands in the earth. 1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV) says, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?” The solutions for the world’s problems are not in government, schools, hospitals, business, media, etc. The solutions to problems you are called to solve are in your heart. This is proof that God needs you!
While I was crying about the problems the students faced, I asked God, “Where is the church?” God responded, “You are the church.” Later, God instructed me to coordinate a mentoring group with high school students. This was the start of me discovering my calling.
My act of obedience to coordinate the mentoring group put me on the path to discover my call as a Life Strategist. I share this story because your act of obedience is what puts you on the path to discover your calling. Your actions bring God’s solutions for your pain. Isaiah 1:19 (NIV) says, “If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;”
I challenge you to take action on what God has instructed you to do. This is the starting point for discovering your calling. Ask God what he wants you to act on if you don’t know. Keep moving forward if you know your calling.
God’s solutions for your life comes when you are willing and obedient to do what Jesus called you to do.
